Sheikhpura district is one of the districts of Bihar, and and Sheikhpura town is the administrative headquarters of this district. Sheikhpura district is a part of Munger Division. Sheikhpura was separated from the parent district Munger and became an independent district in the year 2000, as a result of reorganisation of district boundaries. The district occupies an area of 689 kmē and has a population of 525,137 (2001 census).
